Today we’re bringing you a guest post from holistic health coach, Kim Wilson Pollock:
Skip the winter blues and prevent cold & flu with this immune boosting green juice recipe! The most important part of staying healthy this holiday season is infiltrating your body with nutrients! Vitamins & minerals will protect you from getting sick.
Winter is a great time to juice because there are so many immune-boosting fruits and veggies that are in season.
Apples contain quercetin, an antioxidant that reduces the incidence of the common cold, has anti-inflammatory properties, benefits the heart, reduces risk of cancer, and also helps prevent allergies.
Pears help to boost the immune system because they contain antioxidants such as vitamin C and copper, which fight off free radicals in the body.
Juice your collards to make a beverage rich in calcium, carotenoids and vitamin K.
Ginger is a spice that produces a warming sensation in the body. It stimulates circulation and has anti-inflammatory properties, both of which are helpful in keeping the immune system healthy.
Jalapeños should find their way into your juice because they are packed with vitamin C (which aids in healthy tissue repair), boosts your immunity, and fights the effects of aging.
