Alcat Food Allergy and Sensitivity Testing

The Alcat Test is a lab based immune stimulation blood test in which a patient’s WBC’s are challenged with various substances including foods, additives, colorings, chemicals, medicinal herbs, functional foods, molds, and pharmaceutical compounds. The patient’s unique set of responses help to identify substances that may trigger potentially harmful immune system reactions.

The Alcat Test objectively classifies a patient’s responses to each test substance as reactive, borderline or non-reactive. Based on these classifications, a customized elimination/rotation diet may be designed to effectively eliminate the specific triggers of chronic immune system activation. By reducing this ongoing burden — and in particular, by reversing the sustained and destructive inflammation it produces — normal body functions and immune system balance can be improved.

    Micronutrient Testing

    WHY IS NUTRIENT STATUS IMPORTANT?

Vitamin, mineral and antioxidant deficiencies have been shown to suppress the function of the immune system which can contribute to degenerative processes such as arthritis, cancer, cardiovascular disease and diabetes. You may be deficient in some vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and/or other essential micronutrients and not even know it.

If this describes all or part of your lifestyle, read on. Many people lead healthy lifestyles, yet some individuals still have deficiencies. Why?

BIOCHEMICAL INDIVIDUALITY: Because each of us is metabolically and biochemically unique, the micronutrient requirements for one person may be quite different than the requirements of another.

ABSORPTION: Although you may eat a balanced diet, if you do not absorb vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and/or other essential micronutrients properly, you can have deficiencies.

CHRONIC ILLNESS: Health conditions such as arthritis, cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, fatigue and multiple sclerosis, to name a few, can be affected, directly or indirectly, by micronutrient deficiencies.

AGING: Our micronutrient requirements at age 30 are quite different from our requirements at age 40, 50 and beyond. Absorption difficulties, especially of vitamin B12, quite commonly occur as we age.

LIFESTYLE: Excessive physical activity, prescription drugs, smoking, alcohol and sedentary habits all impact micronutrient demands.

    Hormone & Thyroid Testing

Comprehensive male and female hormone test panels are offered. Both end-point steroid hormones as well as precursor hormones are included so the precise place of imbalance in the complicated hormonal cascade can be pinpointed.

Thyroid hormones directly regulate every cell in our body as most basic functions like metabolism, emotions and thinking. We also test several proteins that affect thyroid function as well as antibodies to thyroid which can detect autoimmunity (when the immune system attacks healthy tissue) and your levels of cortisol, the stress hormone.

    CardioMetabolic Testing

We offer a complete CardioMetabolic.Panel to measure risk of heart disease and diabetes. The new panel, which includes advanced Lipoprotein Particle Profile™, reports several clinically relevant biomarkers in three areas: (1) Glycemic control (2) Lipid Metabolism (3) Vascular Inflammation. Each patient is given a pre-diabetic risk score ranging from 1-8 depending on their results.

    Candida Albicans Testing

Candida is a common yeast which normally exists on and in our bodies. Sometimes Candida can “overgrow” in the intestinal tract as a result of frequent dosage of antibiotics or steroids, use of oral contraceptives and diets high in sugar and yeast-containing foods. Candida that enters the blood causes the production of immunoglobulins which can be detected by this test.
