What is Blue Tansy Oil and How to Use It
Blue tansy is an essential oil that stems from a Mediterranean plant that, funny enough, is actually yellow. As the main oil that makes up doTERRA’s Deep Blue blend, it’s known to be soothing to the body and the mind.
Blue tansy belongs to the same family as the chamomile oils, which includes Roman chamomile and German chamomile. It’s because of this that it’s is sometimes referred to as “Moroccan Blue Chamomile.”
Chemical Components
Blue tansy’s main chemical components are chamazulene and mycene. It’s chamazulene that gives it a blue hue after it’s steamed distilled. Chamazulene also has powerful soothing effects, making blue tansy perfect for relaxing sore muscles.
This oil is also unique because of its sabinene and myrcene content. Sabinene is a cyclic monoterpene known for its woody and spicy aroma. Experimental research also shows it may be soothing and help diminish the appearance of blemishes on the skin (source).
