It's MOVEMBER! Is Your Man Using Toxic Shaving Cream?

If you're confused and think I can't spell, allow me to explain. Movember is a movement to increase awareness of prostate and other cancers that affect men. Men are encouraged to go without shaving their facial hair for the month, formerly known as, November.

The Movember Foundation started in 2007 and is in over 21 countries. They have raised $559 million with 4 million moustaches – or Mo for short. Their main premise is for men to sign up, and grow a Mo for the month of November, which will be a walking advertisement to raise money for the cause. And at month's end, Movember events are held all over and, of course, men can choose to shave or not.

Now when it's finally time to shave at the end of Movember, why not avoid toxic shaving cream and choose clean, chemical-free products to lather on your – or your man's – face. Most shaving creams or shave gels contain chemicals such as parabens and phthalates, both of which are also found in many cosmetic products.

Parabens are used as a preservative and in some toxicity tests have been shown to negatively affect male reproductive health. As for phthalates, research has found that in laboratory animals they "have been shown to cause fetal death, malformations, and reproductive toxicity, depending on dose potencies."

Participating in Movember to support men's health and then shaving your Mo with chemicals that can affect men's health seems pretty silly, right?
