Not to be a complete Debbie Downer and ruin your day, but are you aware that many of the products currently in your home contain toxic, dangerous chemicals?

I know, I know, but it’s important to discuss this and educate yourself on which products are safe to use in your home, around your children, and which to avoid. Did you know that “there are over 80,000 chemicals in use in the US alone, thousands of which are banned overseas. Of those, only a very small percentage of them are regulated at all.”

I don’t know about you, but I find that scary.

That’s why I want to share this free website where you can take a Toxic Test at www.takethetoxictest.com. It looks at ten categories of the most common household products and tells you what chemicals to look for on the back label. Simply check off the chemicals that are listed on the bottles that you have at home, then the test will add your score and tell you how healthy your home is.

Some of the information I found was disturbing. First, that it only takes 26 seconds for the chemicals in that bottle of toilet bowl cleaner to enter your bloodstream through your skin’s pores. And it’s amazing how many dangerous chemicals are in items we use everyday without even thinking about it.

There are 9 items in hand sanitizer alone that can cause skin irritation. Also, most of the chemicals used to create fragrance in cleaning products can cause asthma. For me, when I see that one of the main ingredients in deodorant is a carcinogen, I worry about what I’m putting on my body.

Have you taken the Healthy Home Toxic Test? Are you concerned about the products in your home? If so, below are some safe products I have found on Amazon.
